We recently reported that Spanish director Carlos Saura was taking part in a masterclass in London, in which he will discuss his love for music in film. This event is timed to coincide with the DVD release of his most famous work, the Flamenco Trilogy, which you can purchase from 23rd April. The Flamenco Trilogy is made up of Bodas de Sangre (Blood Wedding), Carmen and El Amor Brujo (A Love Bewitched), all featuring dances performed in the traditional flamenco style. Bodas de Sangre was released in 1981 and follows Antonio Gades and his dance group as they perform the play Blood Wedding by the poet-playwright Federico García Lorca. The 1983 film Carmen is the second in the trilogy and is based on the novel of the same name by Prosper Mérimée that inspired the famous opera. This film is filled with love, drama and tragedy and is a powerful piece of cinematic art. The last in the trilogy, El Amor Brujo, was released in 1986 and follows a passionate love as it turns to tragedy and a dramatic conclusion.

For the first time, we will see how he battled against cultural and professional bigotry to develop his philosophy of total freedom for the individual practitioner. Based upon this idea, he formed the radical new approach to martial arts and used this to create the stunning cinematic masterpieces that we all know and love. We see how he was able to overcome a serious back injury and become a martial arts legend.

Included in this documentary are three action sequences that have been unearthed and restored. They were filmed for Game of Death (his unfinished work) but were not originally used and this will be the first time that they have been presented in such a format. Both DVDs are a fantastic chance for fans of Bruce Lee, and martial arts in general, to get a closer look at how the history of this legend.
