It’s easy to forget that the Cannes Film Festival isn’t just an opportunity for stars (and Paris Hilton) to get dolled up. With rights available for countless flicks, the event is actually a bit more like a movie jumble sale – albeit a very exclusive one where fat cheque books are required…

Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg’s The Fighter is just one such film that has found a home, having been picked up by movie mogul siblings Bob and Harvey Weinstein who are now reselling to distributors.

Was acquiring it a brave move though? The movie, which is about Massachsetts boxing brothers Dickie Eklund (Bale) and Micky Ward (Wahlberg), is currently in pre-production with David O. Russell onboard to direct… That might sound fine, but keen observers will have noted that Bale and Russell already have something, having both been caught flipping out on-set – the Terminator star at the director of photographer and the I Heart Huckabees director at actress Lily Tomlin.

Can one set house two such massive egos? Suddenly the film’s title seems very apt…

Who would win out of these two fighters?
