The new trailer for Disney’s latest 3D film, Tangled, has been released today…and we’re suddenly feeling about ten-years-old again.
Tangled is updated version of the Brothers Grimm classic, Rapunzel – which is actually the title under which this film will be released in some countries. This modern-day take on the tale follows Flynn Rider, who is voiced by Zachary Levi, as he attempts to hide out in the tower occupied by the princess Rapunzel, voiced by Mandy Moore.
The pair of them go on an adventure, using Rapunzel’s magical hair to get them out a whole variety of scrapes with danger – this is a Disney animation after all, folks. Will she find her real parents and finally be able to lay claim to her royal heritage? I imagine so, but who doesn’t love a good fairy tale.
Dean Wellins and Glen Keane were originally announced as co-directors for the film, which will be the 50th animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, with the latter responsible for the return to Disney’s traditional ‘hand-drawn’ look. Both pulled out of their directorial roles in 2008, and were replaced by Byron Howard and Nathan Greno – the team behind Bolt.
Of course, it’s the legendary soundtracks which endear the films to those of us who might be, er, slightly outside of the Disney animation demographic. And with a soundtrack that is reportedly comprised of Broadway, medieval and 60s rock songs, this could soon be our new favourite accompaniment to duvet-days and lazy Sundays.
Tangled is due to be released in the UK on January 28th – we can’t wait! Check out the new trailer below:
