Julia Roberts attended the premiere of her latest film, Eat Pray Love in New York yesterday.

It has been reported that all reviews of the film have been banned before it’s release in the US this weekend.
This seems slightly a bizarre choice, considering that The Expendables, which stars some huge names, is also released that weekend.
Why would anyone choose Eat  Pray Love over that? Well, the movie is based on a bestselling memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert which takes her on a spiritual quest for self-discovery.

When we say best-seller, we mean it was the New York Times bestseller for 180-plus weeks. Yes, that’s long enough to re-incarnate as an enlightened Tibetan lama.

Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts plays the lead in the movie. It is her first lead role since having her three children.

It is directed by Ryan Murphy, the man behind Glee and is produced by Brad Pitt. It also stars Spiderman baddie James Franco, and the newly married Javier Bardem.

The movie is Murphy’s first mainstream, big- budget film, which he claims changed his life. Talking about it, he said : ” I had gone through a horrible break up — the world’s worst — and I was just sort of sad and looking for direction or something. I read this book, and I was a fan. Then I got the offer. I wrote it (the screenplay), and it forced me to sort of get out my comfort zone and travel around the world … In my personal life I feel a sense contentment and balance. I don’t think I would have gotten there without doing the movie.”

Eat Pray Love tells the story of Liz Gilbert (Roberts) who has everything that a modern women is meant to have – a husband, a lovely home , a great career, but she still feels lost.

After a divorce she decides to take action and embarks on a journey around the world that becomes a quest for self- discovery.

On her travels she discovers three things – the pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy, the power of prayer in India and the inner peace and balance of true love in Bali.

Talking about the film , the Pretty Woman star said : “By the time we left Rome I was seven to ten pounds heavier.”

Despite this Roberts looked stunning on the red carpet in a  Stella McCartney jacket and Diane Von Furstenberg shorts, which showed off her amazing legs.

So what do you think? Have you read the book and if so will the movie be as good?
Eat Pray Love will be in UK cinemas on September 24th.
