Last night was the Super Bowl, which to most of us doesn’t mean much but in the US is the sun around which everything else televisual orbits. And the planets with the most life are the adverts – which are the most expensive of the year.
Without a doubt, this year it was movie trailers which dominated the ads. A total of 16 trailers were shown. Some got people talking, some made people get up to go to loo, but all of them got themselves out there. Below are some of the highlights and trailers.
Cowboys and Aliens – this caused quite a lot of excitement, despite the fact it was just 30 seconds long. We’ll think you’ll agree though they crammed quite a lot in during that time. And we get enough of Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig in action to make us want to see more. Oh and is that Olivia Wilde naked? It’s going to be the Summer blockbuster in America and properly in the UK too when it reaches us in August.
Thor – This might not be getting as much attention as some of the other Marvel films at the moment, like Captain America which kind of stole the Super Bowl show, but it actually looks ok, epic even. Chris Hemsworth takes the lead, it’s directed by Kenneth Branagh and both Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins star, surely this is a recipe for success? It will be released in the UK on 29 April 2011.
Captain America: The First Avenger – this was the big one, after months of images and a teaser poster, we finally get to see what they’ve been working on. It’s the first time we see the villain, Red Skull, and his creepy look. We also see the protagonist, Chris Evans, go from scrawny Steve Roger to super hero. It’s out 29 July, 2011.
Here’s a list and link to all other trailers that were shown. Let us know which you liked and which ones you hated.
