Over the years Britain has produced a huge number of world class actors, and none more so than the 60s and 70s generation. The likes of  Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Derek Jacobi and Sir Christopher Lee have continued to give powerful performances after many of their contemporaries have retired. New documentary British Legends of Stage and Screen  is a worthy celebration of their achievements.

Directed by Anthony Fabian, the documentary shows the actors reflecting on their careers in film, theatre and television, as well as giving insights into the events that shaped their lives.

Other actors featured in the documentary include double Oscar-winner Glenda Jackson, Claire Bloom, Sir Michael Gambon, Dame Diana Rigg, and Michael York.

The series – which was originally screened on Sky Arts in September – features eight, 45-minute episodes.

Each episode uses archive material from the artists’ careers, as well as footage from key national events.

British Legends of Stage and Screen will be released by Odeon Entertainment on December 10th as a 3-Disc Box Set.
