Barbarella back on track

For a while, it looked like Robert Rodriguez’s Barbarella remake was never going to happen; the Grindhouse director had originally planned to remake the Jane Fonda classic action film with girlfriend Rose McGowan as the lead, however, he couldn’t raise finance to make the movie in America and rejected an offer to shoot in Germany – because obviously the location is an integral part of the sci-fi film, ahem.
“We had all this artwork and screen tests of what it would look like. It was a really cool, R-rated, sexy version of a Star Wars movie… It was gonna be really great,” whimpered Rodriguez at the time.

He can wipe his tears now, though… The project has now been saved by Legally Blonde moviemaker Robert Luketic. There are no details about who will be cast in the remake, but there’s a high chance that Luketic and his crew will want some names with big box office clout.
