Buffy the Vampire Slayer gets new blood

You might have thought the vampire-slaying franchise was dead and buried, with a stake through the heart, but it’s been revealed that Buffy The Vampire Slayer is heading right back to the big screen.
Fran Rubel Kuzui, who directed the original film starring Kristy Swanson in 1992, owns the rights to the Buffy brand and is planning to reboot the franchise, replacing Sarah Michelle Gellar and the rest of the cast of the TV series with an all-new bunch of actors fit to fight demons in a different generation.

“Everything has its moment. Every movie takes on a life at some point, and this seems like the moment to do this,” he told the Hollywood Reporter.

Hmmm, anything to do with the popularity of fellow vampire hit franchise Twilight, Kuzui? Considering the fact that Robert Pattinson plays fanged hero Edward in the series, I’m not sure how much sympathy vampire slayers will get in this day and age.
