In a move a cryptic as one of the Time Lord’s missions, the BBC have a confirmed, via a sentence buried at the bottom of a press release about David Tennant appearing in CBBC show The Sarah Jane Adventures, that “a script is in development” for a Dr Who film.
While it’s largely considered that the series could be a box office smash if placed in the right hands, it’s not the first time a big screen adaptation has been attempted; Steven Spielberg is just one name that’s been attached before and several scripts have already been previously drafted. Forget the director, though; more important to the success would undoubtedly be the lead…. David Tennant might have thought he’d retired from the blue box when he filmed his final episode and handed over the reigns to newcomer Matt Smith, but could he be tempted to come back for the big screen? My money’s on him.
