If you want another sequel, who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!

Perhaps it’s just because enough time has passed for people to forget about the flop-fest that was Ghostbusters 2, maybe the studio just wants to earn a quick and easy buck, or perhaps Dan Aykroyd et al are feeling nostalgic…. Whatever the case, the actor has confirmed that a third Ghostbusters movie is ready to go.Aykroyd revealed that himself, Sigourney Weaver, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson are all set to reprise their characters from the 1984 original.

“I’d like it to be a passing-of-the-torch movie. Let’s revisit the old characters briefly and happily and have them there as family but let’s pass it on to a new generation,” he told the Los Angeles Times.

And who might that new generation be? The aging star announced that he’d love to see an all-girl team of Ghostbusters with Alyssa Milano and Eliza Dushku leading the way: “I think they’re amazing,” he added, presumably a little misty-eyed.

You might live out your own fantasies with them, Dan, but probably not those of the studio’s…
