United is the true story of the formation of the youngest team to ever win the Football League. Managed by Matt Busby, the players, scouted by Joe Armstrong and coached by Murphy, became known as the Busby Babes and went on to win the league championships in 1956 and 1957.

However, the team were hit by tragedy in the February of 1958 when eight of their players were killed in the Munich air disaster, and two more were seriously injured.

Bobby Charlton, who survived the crash, will be played by Skins star Jack O’Connell. Sam Clafin, who plays Philip in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, will take on the role of Manchester United’s star player, Duncan Edwards, who died as a result of his injuries two weeks after the crash.

United will be the début feature film from director James Strong, and has a script penned by Torchwood and Law and Order: UK writer, Chris Chibnall.

David Tennant received praise for his performance in the recent BBC drama, Single Father, will also play Las Vegas magician Peter Vincent in next year’s remake of Fright Night. The roles of Armstrong and Busby are yet to be cast, but we’ll keep you posted!
