Jack and Jill stars Sandler as both halves of a boy/girl set of twins. He is also joined by Katie Holmes, who will play the male twin’s wife, whilst Al Pacino will play himself, falling in love with the female twin.

Rumours of a secret guest star appearance in the film have circulated for some time – fuelled especially by pictures of Johnny Depp visiting the set, which appeared last month.

Now it seems that director Dennis Dugan, who has worked with Sandler on the likes of Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, and You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, has finally let the cat out of the bag. Speaking at the première of their latest collaboration, Just Go With It, Dugan reportedly told MTV, “There’s a secret guest star, but I can’t say who it is,” before revealing, “[It’s] Johnny Depp.”

However, the nature of Depp’s appearance is still very much under wraps.

Meanwhile, rumours of another Depp cameo – this time in the upcoming 21 Jump Street film – have not yet been confirmed. The actor has, of course, been busy of late, filming for The Rum Diary and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Jack and Jill is not the first time this year that Holmes and Pacino will appear together on screen – the pair also worked on The Son of No One, which premièred at the Sundance Film Festival last month.

Jack and Jill is being produced by Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison, and is schedules to be reach UK cinemas on 2nd December this year.

Actors Josh Duhamel, Katie Holmes and Blair Underwood had the job of announcing who was up for what.

The King’s Speech, which has already won awards at BIFA, left as a clear front runner, along with The Social Network and Black Swan.

Rather surprisingly, considering the poor reviews, Angelina Jolie has been nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical category for her role in Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s The Tourist. On hearing the news Jolie laughed, as did we, but not because it seems a bit mad. She said:

“When we found out we were laughing because it’s the first time that I’ve been in the comedic category so it’s new for me.”

The awards are presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which is made up of about 85 critics and reporters from all over the world. The event takes place on on January 16 and British comedian/actor Ricky Gervais will host the event once again.

The first trailer for producer Guillermo del Torro’s (the man behind the terrifying Orphanage, Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy) film, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, has just been released. Directed by new boy Troy Nixey it’s already causing waves on the web.

The film stars Katie Holmes (I know, we forgot she was an actor too) and Guy Pearce. It is a remake of the 1973 TV film of the same name.

It tells the story of a young girl who is sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend and discovers creatures in her new home who want to claim her as one of their own.

It sounds a bit silly doesn’t it? But judging by the trailer it actually looks pretty dark.
