Following his Golden Globe success, French actor Jean Dujardin could be set to reunite with The Artist‘s producer, Thomas Langmann, to make a comedy alongside Vincent Cassel.

The Artist, has been heavily nominated at this year’s award ceremonies, with Dujardin’s performance already earning him the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. Perhaps, then, it is no surprise that the film world is keen to see exactly what the silent film’s stars plan to appear in next.

While it was announced yesterday that the film’s female lead, Bérénice Bejo, plans to next star in another film by her husband and director of The Artist, Michel Hazanavicius, today it has been revealed that her co-star, Dujardin, may have plans to star a remake of the 1977 French film, One Wild Moment (Un Moment d’Égarement).

DuJardin is set to star opposite another French acting heavyweight, Cassel, who has achieved international recognition though his roles in films such as Black Swan and A Dangerous Method. The pair are set to play best friends in the romantic comedy film, who go on holiday together with their teenage children, but fall out when one of them begins a romantic affair with the other’s daughter.

The 1977 original version of One Wild Moment was written and directed by Claude Berri, who also happens to be Langmann’s father. The film was also given an English-language remake in 1984, under the title Blame It On Rio, which starred Michael Caine and featured one of the earliest on-screen appearances of Demi Moore.

Langmann has also previously worked with Cassel when he produced the two-part 2008 gangster film, Mesrine: Killer Instinct. Of course, the question remains as to where we might next be able to see Uggie, The Artist‘s Jack Russell Terrier, Jack, make an appearance on the big screen.

Meanwhile, Dujardin has directed and will appear in Les Infidèles - a series of short films about infidelity, which is released in France on 29th February. There’s no word yet as to when One Wild Moment will begin production, but we’ll keep you posted!

Warner Bros is reported to be ‘scared to death’ after audiences claimed they couldn’t understand the dialogue from the latest Batman villain, Bane, in The Dark Knight Rises.

A six minute prologue was shown as a preview of the latest instalment in Christopher Nolan‘s series of Batman films before IMAX screenings of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Whilst audiences appear to have been generally impressed by the sneak peak, there’s no ignoring the fact that many of them are also citing the dialogue from Bane, played by Tom Hardy, as being ‘incomprehensible’.

The source of the problem seems to lie in the fact that Hardy’s face is covered by a mask – through which he receives a super-strength serum, much as you might expect. However, it seems that aside from providing Bane with the means to be a credibly menacing bad guy, it has also muffled his voice to the degree that audiences are struggling to understand anything the character says. Coupled with Hardy‘s British accent, American viewers are thought to be finding Bane’s dialogue particularly tricky to understand.

The reaction to the clip has been so overwhelmingly focused on Bane’s dialogue issues that Warner Bros is reported to be putting pressure Nolan to make changes to the film’s audio, before it is released in cinemas. However, Nolan’s not known dumbing down to aid audience understanding (see Inception), and there’s no confirmation that the sound will be re-dubbed.

Batman fans may find it easier to fathom the dialogue of the rest of The Dark Knight Rises‘ star-studded cast, which sees Christian Bale return as Batman himself, as well as Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman. They’ll be joined by Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, a bunch of crystal clear enunciators if ever there was one.

The Dark Knight Rises is set to hit UK cinemas on 20th July 2012.

Batfans will be excited to hear that Christopher Nolan has finally revealed some juicy news about the next Batman film. The Dark Knight Rises will be set eight years after The Dark Knight, which ended at a rather crucial time for our hero. In an effort to give the people of Gotham hope and keep the image of the White Knight alive, Batman shouldered the blame for Harvey Dent’s murders and went on the run.

It has also been announced that a prologue for The Dark Knight Rises will be shown before Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol in IMAX. Christopher Nolan has confirmed that this will basically show the first six or seven minutes of the film, including an introduction to the villain, Bane. Also, a full-length trailer will be shown before the new Sherlock Holmes film, Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows.

When the final film in the trilogy comes out on July 20th 2012, we will rejoin an older Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale), who is no longer at the top of his game. It is likely that this will leave numerous questions for viewers, such as what has Bruce Wayne been doing since we last saw him? What state will Gotham City be in and who will be the new villains that Batman will have to face?

Well, at least we can answer the latter of these questions as Tom Hardy will play Bane, who you may recognise as the huge, muscly brute that we saw in the 1997 film Batman and Robin. Hardy has said that Bane will test Batman’s physical as well as mental strength and that this will be a new kind of challenge for him.

The Dark Knight Rises will see Michael Caine return as Alfred, Liam Neeson as Ra’s Al Ghul and Cillian Murphy as the creepy scarecrow man, Dr Jonathan Crane. Gary Oldman also keeps his old character of Jim Gordon and Morgan Freeman is Lucius Fox again. New additions to the cast include Anne Hathaway who will be slipping into the skin-tight costume of Catwoman and will no-doubt do something bad-ass, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play Gotham cop, John Blake and Marion Cotillard will play Wayne Enterprises board member Miranda Tate.

This film is supposed to be the closing of the Batman story and with it being set eight years on, this may well work. It will be interesting to see how it all ends, as the writers are keeping the details close to their chests. Will Batman be able to defeat the villains once again? Will he even be able to fight well after eight years? And how will the new characters of Catwoman and Bane fare? We will have to wait until next year to find out the answers to some of these questions, but we will keep you posted if we hear anything. Until then, take a look at the teaser trailer to whet your appetite:

Academia is always going to be an important aspect of who we are and what we want to do for a living. Some of us might even become teachers ourselves. But what films best sum up the classroom environment? Larry Crowne is a romance set around teacher and pupil, but what other worthy tales take place at school?

An English playboy living in America, Arthur stands to receive a $950 million inheritance – as long as he marries heiress Susan Johnson, played by Jennifer Garner. Unfortunately, he’s fallen for the charms of a tour guide, played by Greta Gerwig – forcing him to make the choice between love and money.

With this in mind, we’ve decided to take a look at a few other films which have seen British characters at large in the United States. Here are are few of our favourites…

The film is a remake of a 1966 comedy drama of the same name but this time around the script has been written by the Coen brothers. It will be directed by Michael Hoffman who is know for The Last Station.

It has not been confirmed whether Firth will definitely star in the film, although he has certainly been offered the role. If he does get on board he will be playing an art curator from London, who thinks up a crazy scheme in order to con a wealthy art collector into buying a fake Monet. He recruits a Texas steer roper, which if you don’t know is some sort of rodeo rider, played by Diaz. Her role is to claim that her grandfather liberated the picture at the end of World War Two.

In the original the pair, played by Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine, end up falling for each other and predictably the con doesn’t go exactly according to plan. We don’t know at this stage what the Coen brothers have done with the script, but we can’t really picture Diaz and Firth romantically involved, can you?

Gambit will begin shooting this spring in London. Firth is currently winning lots and lots of awards and most likely an Oscar for his role in The King’s Speech. Diaz on the other hand hasn’t made a good film in years. Whether Gambit will live up to the original, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Speaking about her nomination, Arterton said:

“I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to be one of the shortlisted actors for the Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award. 2010 was an incredible year for me and to be recognised in this way by both my peers and the film-going public is amazing.

“I’m in very good company with the other actors who have been nominated, so it is a huge compliment to be considered to win this prestigious award.”

The award is particularly special as it is the only one which is voted for by the public. Previous winners include Shia LaBeouf and Kristen Stewart, who have both gone on to be mega stars.

The nominees have been hand picked by the judging panel, which includes rapper Ben Drew (Plan B), director Tom Ford and journalist Charles Gant. This year the award, also known as the Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award, will be announced at the BAFTAs on February 13.

In other British film news, a recent survey has revealed that the Michael Caine, Sixties classic The Italian Job is the greatest British film of all time. The poll, commissioned by Sky Movies HD, also revealed that Sir Anthony Hopkins is considered the greatest British actor, followed by Laurence Olivier and then Michael Caine. Dame Judi Dench was the favourite actress.

To celebrate the luxury exhibition screening of Get Carter at Newcastle Racecourse on Thursday, 2rd December, Volkswagen and The Film Review have teamed up to offer one lucky winner the chance to see the iconic film in its original movie location.

This is the second free event in Volkswagen’s See Film Differently series, following An American Werewolf in London which was screened last month inside ZSL London Zoo.

As part of this money-can’t-buy-prize, the lucky winner will win a pair of tickets to the event which will feature an exhibition of original film stills, as well as maps of set locations and archived news stories from the original release, and of course, the exclusive screening itself.

For your chance to win, just answer the question below:

Which classic British crime film was NOT directed by Mike Hodges?

What’s more, film fans that aren’t lucky enough to win can still get involved.

A new possible villain joins the Batman crew: Tom Hardy. Fellow hero, or Heath Ledger’s follow-up villain?

So far, so good: Christopher Nolan‘s Batman films have been adored by fans and critics alike, his dark, Frank Miller-inspired vision of Gotham and its inhabitants giving us Christian Bale‘s Batman and even more notably, Heath Ledger‘s The Joker.

Tom Hardy as Bronson - phwoar, what a nutter!

Of course, Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman will all be reprising their roles as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Alfred and Lucius Fox respectively. It’s going to be a huge film as the third instalment will see Batman face off against yet another key member of the Batman villain clientèle.

At the moment, it’s up in the air as to whether new addition Tom Hardy (Inception, Layer Cake, and Bronson) is going to play the villain or not, but I think we all know what the answer is… Question is, who do you think he’s going to play? TFR Towers is beginning to lean towards the community-suggested Black Mask.

What do you think? Poll’s on the right, and we’ve got four logical contenders – the Black Mask, the Penguin, the Riddler and Hush. If you’ve got any better ideas, then comment, and let us know!
