Angels & Demons isn’t even released until next week, but it’s already got the Vatican in a tizz – according to Ron Howard anyway. During a news conference in Rome, the director told the press that the district had interfered with his effort to get filming permission to the point that crew members had to pose as tourists and take photos of the Italian backdrop of churches so they could later be recreated – at an unnecessary expense. In return, a spokesman for the Vatican quipped that such allegations were only designed to publicise the film. Read the full story

Clearly not scared of facing the Pope’s wrath, Columbia Pictures is dishing out yet another Dan Brown adaptation for the big screen…
Penned by the writer before The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons acts as a prequel to famed mega hit novel – and so this time round we see Tom Hanks fighting off the years to play an ever so slightly younger Dr Robert Langdon. The intrepid Harvard symbologist still has the same kind of things to deal with though – mainly the small matters of murder, science and religion. Somebody’s gotta see to it. Read the full story
