Still looking forward to the American Reunion? Well, you’ll be happy to know there is a brand new trailer available online, to accompany the one we gave you a month ago.
The whole gang from the original three films are older, wiser and far more mature. Except perhaps Stifler (Seann William Scott). That doesn’t mean the humour has grown up though. From the looks of things, it will be just as crude as the trilogy that preceded it.
We get some more plot in this trailer too. We already knew that American Reunion involved getting the gang together for their high school reunion (the title speaks for itself), but we now get a deeper glimpse into the dynamics between the characters, nearly a decade since the last film.
The trailer shows Heather and Oz have an awkward meeting (last we saw them in American Pie 2 they were still together), Jim is astounded to discover the girl he used to babysit is 18 now and smoking hot, despite the fact he is still married to Michelle (Alyson Hannigan), with a toddler at home. Meanwhile Stifler’s mum and Jim’s dad could get it on (poor Finchy).
Of course the film is yet another example of Hollywood’s lack of faith in new projects lately. American Pie, American Pie 2 and American Pie: The Wedding all made well over $200 million each, so getting the gang back together is a sure thing for the studio.
We’ll take what amusement we can get, and just hope they don’t attempt to remake the magic with new actors ever again. Numbers four to seven are typically abysmal.
