It could have been a handy bit of method acting for the former addict, but Robert Downey Jr has said that Sherlock Holmes’s opium habit, explored in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s original novels, will not play a prominent part, in Guy Ritchie’s upcoming big screen adaptation – ensuring the flick is fit for all the family.
“I actually petitioned the court and said, ‘This is a PG-13 movie. Let’s just refer to these peripherally.’ So at one point, Watson says, ‘What are you doing, that’s for eye surgery’,” he told MTV.
We’ve got to wait more six months for the release, but there’s already talk of a sequel – from Rob anyway; “I feel like there’s going to be a Sherlock Holmes 2,” he added in his interview. We’ll just have to see, but I’m sure Guy is crossing his fingers – he could do with a hit. At least without out ex Madge cast in a role, he’s in with a bit more of a chance.
