Fast and Furious 6 is on the horizon and it looks like it will be racing its way to Glasgow, Scotland.
The follow-up to Fast & Furious 5, which was a hit at the box office last year, began filming on Monday in England and will soon be speeding it’s way up to the bonnie land of Scotland. Scenes will be shot from late August to early September in the city around Cadogan Street and Broomielaw. Yes, they are real places.
The great welcome that Glasgow has given other high-profile films recently, such as World War Z and Cloud Atlas, played a significant part in the decision-making process regarding Fast 6. After a meeting earlier this year with the city’s Glasgow Film Office, the film production team decided that the Scottish city would be a great place to shoot. However, none of the lead cast members will be there, so it will be slightly less exciting for residents of the area.
Director Justin Lin, who also oversaw the last three Fast films, took to Twitter to reveal that filming began on 30th July. Scriptwriter Chris Morgan, who also penned the last three films, is also working on the movie as well as Fast regulars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson and Michelle Rodriguez.
Fast and Furious 6 is scheduled for release on 24th May, 2013.
