First film role for Daniel Radcliffe since Harry Potter

Daniel Radcliffe’s first film role after Harry Potter has been confirmed, as he wraps up filming on the final two films.

The 20-year-old actor is keen to put his child actor days behind him by staring in supernatural thriller The Woman In Black.

Daniel will play Arthur Kipps, a young solicitor who travels to a deceased client’s house to settle their account. While he is there, he meets the woman in black and unravels the home’s disturbing legacy.

You may be familiar with the story as it was originally a book written by Susan Hill and was then turned in to a hugely popular West End show, which has been running since 1989.

It was also made into a TV programme in the same year and the main character was played by Adrian Rawlins, who plays Daniel’s dad in Harry Potter, quite a coincidence eh?

The film will be directed by James Watkins and the script has been written by Jane Goldman, the lady behind Kick- Ass and of course the wife of Jonathan Ross.

Meanwhile another Harry Potter star, Tom Felton, who plays meanie Draco Malfoy has been confirmed to star in Rise of the Apes, a prequel to Planet of the Apes.

Tom will play the son of the villain, played by Brain Cox. It all sounds a little familiar, doesn’t it?

The film, which will use CGI, also stars James Franco, John Lithgow, Freida Pinto and Andy Serkis.
