Filming for The Inbetweeners Movie has finally begun!
Or at least, it will begin over the weekend. The team behind the much anticipated movie, which will conclude the popular and award-winning TV show, plan to complete filming over the next six weeks, shooting in and around the Europe and the UK.
It doesn’t seem like long ago that we waved goodbye to Will, Simon, Jay and Neil, when it was announced that the third series was to be the final outing for the group of luckless teenagers. Fortunately, The Inbetweeners, played by Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas, soon announced that they would return for something of an encore, taking their ludicrous antics to the big screen in a feature-length film.
The Inbetweeners Movie will see the boys venture away from Rudge Park Comprehensive School for a lads holiday to Malia – where else? – where they will, no doubt, continue in their never-ending quest for clunge. They will also be joined by several of the show’s regulars, including Emily Head as Carli, Belinda Stewart-Wilson as Will’s Mum and Greg Davies as Mr Gilbert.
Many members of the sitcom’s production team are also set to make a return, including BAFTA nominated director, Ben Palmer. The film will also be scripted by award winning duo and original Inbetweeners writers, Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, so we can safely expect to hear a few new memorable catchphrases to rival the likes of ‘football friend’ and ‘bumder’.
Producer, Christopher Young, has also stated that he hopes that, “the film will introduce The Inbetweeners to a whole new audience in the UK and around the world.” We can’t wait!
The Inbetweeners Movie is set to be released in UK cinemas on 19th August 2011.
