The release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is only a month away now, and the final trailer has arrived online to tease fans into a frenzy. Catch a glimpse of Katniss fighting for her life in the 75th Hunger Games aka The Quarter Quell.
To be honest, considering the trailers for The Hunger Games didn’t show any of the second half of the film at all, we fully expected Lionsgate to do the same again and not give away any of the events which take place in the arena in Catching Fire.
Surprise! Below you get brief snippets of the horrors ahead in the arena, including deadly mist, and a sense of impending doom which cannot be denied. It’s also a breath of fresh air to have a trailer which is pretty much devoid of the romantic love triangle the media loves to draw attention to, over the real themes of the films and books: murder, a controlling government and a fight for revolution.
Our heroine truly has her work cut out for her. As President Snow says in the trailer: “You fought very hard in the arena, but they were games. Would you like to be in a real war?”
For that is what the second film in the franchise is leading up to, and we can’t wait to see the journey from the book play out on screen.
With a new director in Francis Lawrence, Catching Fire sees a returning cast which includes Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth and Elizabeth Banks. Jena Malone and Sam Claflin join the cast this year.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is released in UK cinemas 21 November.
