What do you do if you don’t want the hassle of a relationship, but do want to have a child? Well, in the film Friends With Kids, two friends seem to think that the answer is to have a baby with each other. That should be simple, right?
Jason and Julie, played by Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt, make the decision to have a baby together, while keeping their relationship platonic. However, when the pair start dating other people, it becomes clear that this arrangement may not be as easy as they thought.
Their friends thought it was a bad idea from the start, should Jason and Julie have listened to them? Or are they about to find the exact thing that they wanted to avoid in the first place, that they have feelings for each other? Throw Megan Fox and Ed Burns into the mix as love interests and we are bound to find out.
Their friend Ben is played by Mad Men‘s Don Draper himself, Jon Hamm, in what we’re sure will be a slightly more light-hearted role with less smoking, drinking and womanising. His character, along with the rest of their circle are all played by actors and actresses who appeared in the 2011 comedy Bridesmaids. Kristen Wiig plays Ben’s other half Missy and Chris O’Dowd and Maya Rudolph play couple Alex and Leslie.
Friends With Kids is written and directed by Jennifer Westfeldt (Julie) and as yet there is no official word on a release date. However, there is a new trailer out that you can check out below, and hopefully we won’t have too long to wait before the film is released.
