The producers of the all-singing, all-dancing TV show, Glee, have confirmed that a Glee Live! 3D! film is soon to be released.
The film is set to follow the cast on and off stage as they go on tour with Glee Live! In Concert! this summer. Following the success of Justin Bieber’s 3D concert film Justin Bieber: Never Say Never earlier this year, at least 14 members of the Glee cast have signed on for the film, which will have a limited release of just two weeks.
Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Mark Salling, Dianna Agron, Heather Morris, Harry Shum Jr., Chord Overstreet are amongst just some of the names who are reported to be appearing, as well as Darren Criss, and several members of The Warblers. However, Jane Lynch and Matthew Morrison, who play Sue Sylvester and Will Schuester respectively, have not been confirmed for filming.
The film is also thought to cover a range of the Glee club’s most memorable performances – from their covers of Journey‘s Don’t Stop Believin’ to Britney Spears’ I’m a Slave 4 U.
The TV show’s creator Ryan Murphy is on board to produce, whilst Fame remake director Kevin Tancharoen will helm the production.
With the TV show being awarded the Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy at the beginning of this year, and live shows taking place across the UK in June, this announcement is sure to be good news for Gleeks everywhere.
Glee Live! 3D! is set to be released in the US on August 12th, with a UK date expected to follow shortly after.
