Beach Boys fans are sure to be having good vibrations after watching the singing surfers in the upcoming musical film, directed by Michael Sucsy.

The Californian harmonisers will soon be portrayed in a musical film, which has already been penned by Erin of Brockovich writer, Susannah Grant.

Sucsy – the director of the recent romantic flick, The Vow – will be directing the all singing, all surfing film which is set to spin an original tale around the songs of the sixties American band.

Producing the Beach Boys bonanza will be Craig Zadan (Footloose, Annie) and Neil Meron (Gypsy, If Looks Could Kill) who together brought Chicago and Hairspray to the cinema.

The group’s former touring drummer, John Stamos, is rumoured to be co-producing the un-named musical according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The plot is currently tightly under wraps, but we do know that the family fun film tells a story which is set back in the summer of (not ’69, sorry Bryan Adams fans) but sometime in the late 1960s.

Movie studio Fox 2000 will distribute the picture, after they outbid rival studio, Universal, to secure the project back in 2010.

Just when you thought you couldn’t get enough, biopics of two of the Beach Boys – Brian and Dennis Wilson – are also in the works.
We will keep you posted on the latest Beach Boy news.
