Just like their song, it’s ‘Business Time’ for Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement who are rumoured to be hard at work making a film version of their hit comedy show, Flight of the Conchords.
Last year, the comedy duo hinted at the prospect of a film, but they have now officially stated ‘We want to do a movie, we just need a story’.
McKenzie said: “I’m going to go back to New Zealand tomorrow, maybe film it next week. And then edit it the week after. I don’t know how familiar you are with movies, but there’s a lot of behind the scenes stuff that could take one or two weeks. Probably in about a month we’ll have a première.”
The New Zeeland double act – who play fictitious versions of themselves in the comedy series – are also known for their side-splitting songs which include The Humans Are Dead, Hippopotamus versus Rhinoceros and The Most Beautiful Girl (In The Room).
They have won umpteen awards for their hilarious hits, including Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Best Group and Album of the Year, at New Zealand’s Music Awards in 2008.
Both comedians have also landed themselves roles in big Hollywood films; Clement appeared in Dinner for Schmucks and Rio, while McKenzie had a small role in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, and is now the music supervisor for the upcoming Muppets film.
A release date has not been set, but we will keep you posted!
