The running-time of the Lord of the Rings trilogy might have dragged, but that was nothing compared to the build-up up to The Hobbit…
After months of rumours, director Guillermo del Toro has finally spilled a bit more info on the anticipated film adaptation he’s working on in collaboration with Peter Jackson – mainly that the LOTR prequel won’t be a trilogy at all, but two separate episodes.
“I’m doing only two movies because I felt that that was the best way to service the book,” he director told MTV. “I’m not saying the other notion was not discussed. We discussed it a large degree. But I felt that for me, the two films were the way to go.”
The Hellboy director kept his lips sealed when it came to casting, but he did say that he’ll be revealing who’s going to be taking on the iconic role of Bilbo, as played by Ian Holm in the LOTR films, imminently. Watch this space.
