Hobbit delayed, Jackson hospitalised

Just as The Hobbit was due to go into production, director Peter Jackson has been taken into hospital for an urgent operation to repair a perforated ulcer.Admitted to Wellington hospital last night with acute stomach pains, he soon underwent surgery and is now currently resting. It’s expected he’ll be absolutely fine after he recovers, and it’s just as well as the project seems to be cursed with delays.

Poor old Pete. It seems he’s had a horrid run of luck with this film, from angry actors’ guilds to funding issues, and now he’s sat in bed probably wondering if he’s holding the One Ring himself considering all the obstacles popping up on the way to finally starting the production process.

Hopefully he’ll be back on his feet soon enough and surrounded by the incredible cast he’s pulled together (or pulled back together, in most cases). TFR wishes him all the best and looks forward to seeing him doing what he does best – creating breathtakingly awesome cinema in the world of Middle Earth.
