The Hunger Games poster revealed in Twitter hunt

After a hunt on Twitter for 100 puzzle pieces to put it together, we can now unveil the brand new poster for The Hunger Games, the film based on the best-selling book series.

Poised for battle in The Hunger Games

To celebrate the fact it was 100 days until the release of The Hunger Games on the 23rd March 2012, a new poster was released on the 15th December. Well, bits of it. The poster was split into 100 puzzle pieces for Twitter fans to find.

It was a mad scramble, with fans all over the world eager to be the first to piece the puzzle together, but one eventually succeeded. And with the promotional race now over, we can bring it to you here.

The Hunger Games is based on the best selling trilogy of books by Suzanne Collins. Originally published in 2008, the author went on to turn it into a trilogy, the final two books focusing on the aftermath of the first book.

Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living in the poorest district of Panem (the remains of the USA). When the 12 districts waged war on the Capitol long ago and lost, they surrendered under the terms that each district would send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event known as ‘The Hunger Games’. When Kat’s sister is chosen by lottery to participate she takes her place. The rules are simple: kill or be killed.

With such a large fan base, and the hype surrounding it, there’s no wonder the film is expected to become a hit that could rival even The Twilight Saga.

Starring Jennifer Lawrence (X Men: First Class) as our protagonist Katniss, Josh Hutcherson, Donald Sutherland and Elizabeth Banks, the film looks to be epic, if the grand scale of the new poster and the trailer that was released in November are anything to go by.
