Steve Carrell is to play the love child of an ageing rock star in his new film, Imagine.
This Warner Bros. comedy will reportedly be directed by Dan Fogelman, who has previously worked as a screenwriter on the likes of Pixar’s Cars and Disney’s Bolt.
It will be the second collaboration between the pair since Carell left The Office, having worked together on the upcoming comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love.
In fact, the central themes of the two films don’t seem to be too dissimilar either. Imagine is the story of an old rock star who – after being informed in a letter from John Lennon that he has a child – sets about reconnecting with the son he’s never known, played by Carell. Crazy. Stupid. Love, on the other hand, sees Carell playing a father struggling to manage the relationship with his children amidst a marital crisis, and is directed by I Love You Phillip Morris‘s John Requa and Glenn Ficarra.
Imagine is set to be produced by Carell’s own production company, with the rest of the cast yet to be announced. We’ll keep you posted!
