The next Superman film Man of Steel has been shooting for a few months now, but they have still managed to squeeze in a last minute cast member, in the form of Richard Schiff.
The actor is known for his Emmy-winning role as Toby Ziegler in The West Wing as well as the TV series Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour and for appearing in Johnny English Reborn. He will now play Doctor Hamilton in the Superman reboot and while few details about his character are known yet, it is likely that it is based on Professor Emil Hamilton who appears in the Superman series from DC Comics.
Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill, who recently also played the main character of Theseus in the 2011 film Immortals and is known for playing Charles Brandon in the TV series The Tudors. He will now be playing the strong, flying superhero, a role which he has had to bulk up for, as all Superman actors do. Also appearing in this upcoming Superman reboot will be Amy Adams who is known for appearing in Enchanted, Night At The Museum 2: Battle Of The Smithsonian and Catch Me If You Can. She will be playing Lois Lane, the love interest of Superman’s alter ego Clark Kent.
Joining Cavill and Adams will be Russell Crowe as Jor-El and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Clark’s parents. Also included in the cast are Michael Shannon, Laurence Fishburne and Jadin Gould. Man of Steel is directed by Zack Snyder and will be coming out in June 2013, let’s hope that Henry Cavill can bring the same amount of charisma to this role that he brought to Immortals, and we look forward to seeing how he plays the famous superhero.
