Matthew Vaughn to film Jonathan Ross’s comic

It looks like super comic book fan, Jonathan Ross may be getting his own comic series made into a feature film.

Director Matthew Vaughn is apparently keen to work with The Golden Age, which is the follow up to Turf , the comic Ross wrote with Tommy Lee Edward.

It is thought he is already in talks with a studio and is close to getting funding for it. The story is about retired superheroes who live in a nursing home but have to go back to work because their grandchildren are screwing up the plant.

Vaughn is hoping to cast the likes of Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson and Warren Beatty – pretty big names.

Speaking about casting he said: “You have these great star names and they’re mainly playing supporting roles now. I want to give them the lead again and let them have some fun.”

Vaughn is of course currently working with Ross’s other half, Jane Goldman, on X-Men: First Class and has previously worked with her writing the hit Kick-Ass. It is not known at this stage whether Goldman will come on board for this project also, but we’re thinking she’ll want to help her hubby.

If you’re thinking this all sounds rather familiar, you’re not wrong. Last year we saw two projects which weren’t too dissimilar, Red and The Expendables, both of which featured retired superheroes.

So what do you think? Has anyone actually read Ross’s attempts at a comic? It doesn’t appear to be listed on Amazon. Should he leave the creative side of comics to his wife ?
