Wolf Of Wall Street has already attracted some big stars to its casting list and now it looks as though Matthew McConaughey is set to join their ranks.
He’s been everywhere lately, from delighting the ladies in Magic Mike, to sleazing on one young lady in particular as the dark, dangerous lead in Killer Joe. Matthew McConaughey is hot stuff at the moment and the roll that he’s on does not look like it will end any time soon. The Texas-born actor is the latest to sign on for Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf Of Wall Street.
The screenplay is adapted from the memoir of Wall Street broker Jordan Belfort. The story follows his real-life rapid rise and sudden fall, with Leonardo DiCaprio playing the lead role. McConaughey will be playing Mark Hanna, who was Belfort’s boss and mentor during the early years.
He will be joining the already star-studded cast of Jean Dujardin, Jonah Hill, Kyle Chandler, Margot Robbie, Rob Reiner, Ethan Suplee, Jon Bernthal, PJ Byrne and Cristin Milioti, who are already all aboard the Wolf train.
This marks the latest step in McConaughey’s move away from cheesy rom-coms like The Wedding Planner, where he starred as Jennifer Lopez’s love interest, and How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, where he plays Kate Hudson’s love interest. To be fair, in the recently released Magic Mike, he plays pretty much every girl’s love interest, but that’s different – his character is a stripper.
Filming of The Wolf Of Wall Street begins in New York this month, in the terribly old fashioned 2D.
