The National Movie Awards 2010

And just when we thought the awards season was over, another one creeps along The National Movie Awards. However there is a slight twist to this one as it voted for exclusively by the public.
The ceremony held at London’s Royal Festival Hall drew in some big A-listers, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kylie Minogue and Orlando Bloom to name a few.
The winners were:
Action/thriller: Sherlock Holmes
Family: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson accepted the trophy for the best family film. Co star Rupert Grint was unable to attend due to illness.
Fantasy: The Twilight Saga: New Moon
Most Anticipated Movie Of The Summer: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Breakthrough Movie: The Time Traveler’s Wife
Performance Of The Year: Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga: New Moon)
He was unable to attend due to filming commitments but said in a video clip: “It means a lot to me because you the fans decided the winner.
“Thanks for voting for me.”
Special Recognition Award: Harry Potter
Screen Icon: Tom Cruise
Gwyneth Paltrow presented the award to Tom Cruise, who looked genuinely pleased, he said : “It’s a real honour for me to be here tonight.
“This great city of London. This great country England. I’ve made several films here. I have been fortunate.”
Cruise: ‘Thank you for allowing me to entertain you’
He added: “I guess as a film maker the most important thing to me is you.
“If I have entertained you at all, I thank you. Thank you for allowing me to do so.”
And finally it has to be said, but what on earth was his wife Katie Holmes wearing? I think it’s time someone got her a stylist.
