The cast of the upcoming rock and roll musical, Rock of Ages, ditched their mullets and leather trousers for glamorous outfits as they strutted their stuff last night at the European première.
The comedy musical features iconic rock and roll tunes from the Eighties, premièred in London’s Leicester Square last night where fans flocked to see the cast on a sparkling carpet which was shaped like a giant electric guitar.
White Snake’s Bernie Marsden appeared while Tom Cruise signed autographs and posed for photos. Director, Adam Shankman, introduced each member of the cast on stage before asking them what they liked best about working on the movie.
Shankman (Hairspray) described the feel-good rock and roll film as ‘a brilliant mash-up of Axl Rose, Keith Richards and Jim Morrison’.
Rock of Ages, which is based on the hit West End musical of the same name, has a star-studded cast which includes Mission Impossible actor Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Mary J Blige, Russell Brand and Catherine-Zeta Jones.
Cruise plays Stacee Jaxx, a lady-killer and dissolute star of the rock super-group Arsenal. British comedian Russell Brand plays nightclub bouncer Lonny and R&B singer Mary J Blige plays strip club owner Justice.
The only stars who did not attend the screening was 30 Rock actor, Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Bryan Cranston.
Rock of Ages rocks up at cinemas Friday 15 June.
