Fans showed up to show support at the UK première of The Other Guys last night in London’s Leicester Square – even if relatively few A-listers did…
Cast members, and the film’s central comedy duo, Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg braved the rainy blue(!) carpet yesterday, with both stopping to sign autographs and talk to members of the public. This action-comedy follows Wahlberg and Ferrell as mismatched police detectives who get the chance to prove themselves by taking charge of New York City’s biggest crime case.
They were also joined last night by the film’s leading lady, Eva Mendes. Despite the gloomy weather, Miss Mendes managed to look radiant in a green Prada mini-dress and purple heels. Although she almost certainly managed to steal spotlight during the première, there wasn’t exactly much competition.
While the film includes a fair few big names, such as Dwayne Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson and Steve Coogan, none of them made an appearance at last night’s rain-soaked event. Instead, ‘celebrity’ attendees included a slightly bedraggled-looking Ultimate Big Brother winner Brian Dowling, as well as socialite (apparently) Hofit Golan and, bizarrely, MC Harvey.
But, despite the rain, Leicester Square managed to look suitably glitzy, with an extravagant construction of cop cars in a mock pile-up leading up to the entrance of the Vue cinema where the screening was held.
Was the poor turn out an indication that, as critics have suggested, this is not Ferrell’s best comedic offering? Check out the pictures from the première below, and decide for yourself when The Other Guys hits cinemas on the 17th September.
