Sin City 2 has been rumoured and hotly anticipated for ages. The director Robert Rodriguez, who has been teasing and hinting for years now, has finally confirmed the ball is once again rolling. About time!
Yes, Sin City 2 is all set to shoot this summer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Although Rodriquez frustratingly remains characteristically silent about other details. Alas we don’t even know who the cast is going to include.
As for the comic book storylines the sequel will be based on, we have a little bit more information, thanks to the author Frank Miller, who spoke last year.
“Sin City 2 is primarily an adaptation of the book A Dame to Kill For,” he revealed, hinting strongly at the return of Hollywood hottie and recent mother, Jessica Alba.
“It also features the short story, Just Another Saturday Night and two new stories, one involving Jessica Alba’s character, Nancy Callahan, that I came up with for the movie in order to tie things together and make it be more united with the first.”
The original Sin City was a dark exploration of a miserable town known as Basin City, and told the stories of three different people who are caught up in the violence and corruption that is rife there. The film starred the likes of Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, Elijah Wood, the late Brittany Murphy and Bruce Willis.
Hopefully Rodriquez wasn’t kidding when he announced the impending start of production. It has been seven years already since Sin City was released. Either way we’ll have to wait until he is finished with Machete 2 before we’ll get any footage.
