The production line of fairytale adaptations gets longer. Emma Watson is in final negotiations to be the beautiful protagonist in Guillermo del Toro’s Beauty and the Beast. Meanwhile Saoirse Ronan is set to star in another Snow White.
The fairytale adaptation seems to be the sure-thing in Hollywood right now. Snow White has no less than three adaptations in the works, including Snow White and the Huntsmen, Mirror Mirror and now Saoirse Ronan has been cast as the princess in Order of The Seven.
The adaptation that was previously known as Snow White and the Seven, will be a martial arts action film, re-imagining the classic fairytale completely. Ronan will play British Expat Olivia Sinclair who lives in 19th Century Hong Kong. The seven dwarves are replaced with seven warriors.
Meanwhile, after starring roles in My Week With Marilyn and Perks of Being a Wallflower, Emma Watson despite chopping her locks off, is going to play Beauty in Beauty and the Beast. And you can’t deny she fits the part. Guillermo del Toro expressed his interest in Miss Watson’s involvement in his live-action version of the classic fairytale, last summer.
The project is safely within the development stage while he works on other projects. Bridget Jones’s Diary writer Andrew Davis is penning the script, although we suspect it will have far less big knickers in it. And with Emma on board, things are getting more exciting.
Disney’s Order of the Seven is due to start rolling this Autumn. A schedule for Beauty and the Beast is unknown as of yet.
So what do you think about the casting? Who would you cast as Beauty and Snow White?
