The action-packed fantasy – directed by Rupert Sanders – stars Twilight actress, Kristen Stewart, alongside Charlize Theron (Prometheus) and The Avengers Assemble actor, Chris Hemsworth. This spell-binding spectacle, produced by Joe Roth and Sam Mercer, is a warped, darker version of the traditional tale and encompasses monsters and trolls.
Compared to the pure and innocent Snow White character portrayed by Disney, Snow White and the Huntsman sees the Princess dive into the danger and action herself, rather than waiting for Prince Charming to save her.
This new portrayal of the legendary fairytale ditches the clichéd damsel in distress and replaces her with a feisty warrior Princess.
Snow White – as played by Stewart – is the daughter of King Magnus (Noah Huntley) and Queen Eleanor (Liberty Ross). Some time after the Queen passes away, King Magnus rescues the beautiful Ravenna (Charlize Theron) from the Dark Army and he soon marries her.
However, the King is too blinded by her beauty to see that Ravenna is in fact a powerful and evil sorceress who desires his kingdom. She heartlessly murders her new husband on their wedding night and claims the throne. However, the witch’s magic mirror foretells that Snow White is destined to destroy her once she comes of age. At once Ravenna enlists the help of the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) to kill her.
Amongst the Stella cast are also the cheeky and entertaining dwarves played by Ian McShane (Deadwood), Ray Winstone (Hugo), Eddie Marsan (Mission: Impossible III and Tyrannosaur), Toby Jones (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and Nick Frost.
Snow White and the Huntsman is released on 8th October, 2012. Visit Amazon.co.uk or Play.com to pre-order your copy.
