I love Stan Lee. I genuinely think he’s one of the most imaginative, talented, friendly people I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to. And he’s in a load of videos!
In the run-up to tomorrow’s release of The Amazing Spider-Man, the creator of Spiderman (and X-Men, The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk…) has appeared in five pages of videos by Web of Stories (a web project that collects stories for future generations to enjoy) that focus on his life, his work in comics, and the portrayal of Marvel characters in movies (a nerve-wracking watch for execs, I’d imagine).
The amount of knowledge on display here is frankly astounding. Stan Lee is an engaging man with an infectious sense of enthusiasm about his work, and the insight into his past is valuable for people who’ve seen a bunch of Marvel movies and wanted a better understanding of his inspirations and his thought processes when it came to creating the variety of characters he’s brought to millions of people around the world.
You can find all of the videos here, and of course, there’s pages of material to dig into, so I advise you do so as soon as possible, and if you get the time, check out the videos featuring cinematographer Albert Mayleses and director Andrej Wajda – worthy watching for any passionate film fan. Excelsior!
