Wrinkly rockers, Status Quo, are soon to star in their very own action movie, titled Bula Quo!
Despite having first formed way back in the sixties, it seems that Status Quo are still keen to broaden their creative horizons, with two of the original members of the band appearing in their very own action-comedy caper.
Guitar-playing duo, Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi (both aged 63), might be more used to Rockin’ All Over The World, but lately they’ve been busy filming the upcoming action film on location in Fiji. Not only have they been spotted doing their own stunts, but they pair have also been snapped toting guns and emerging from the sea in typical James Bond style.
Bula Quo! is being written and directed by Stuart St. Paul, who has worked on films such as Aliens and Batman, and will feature 12 of the band’s songs. US comedian Jon Lovitz and former EastEnder Craig Fairbrass are also set to appear in the film.
Bula Quo! currently has the, rather excellent, tag line, “It started with guitars…and ended with guns!” – whilst Rossi himself has been quoted as saying, “The one thing Quo fans know is to expect the unexpected” – so it’s hard to say exactly what might feature in the upcoming project.
Status Quo have also been busy filming their first cinematic rockumentary, which has been provisionally entitled Hello Quo! (these guys love their exclamation marks…) and is scheduled for released in September. In addition, the band are currently working on a new album and from which they plan to release a single titled ‘The Winner’ to coincide with the Olympics.
Bula Quo! is scheduled for a 2013 release – we’ll keep you posted!
