Disney releases artwork from Frozen

As a particularly Siberian blast recently transformed the UK into a snow-covered winter wonderland just too late for Christmas, it seems very apt that Disney have just released images from their upcoming animation, Frozen.

Rough sketches and concept artwork were published last year, but now Disney have released two teaser posters from the family-fun film.

The artwork features Frozen’s two leading ladies, Anna and Elsa, who will be voiced by Gossip Girl star, Kristen Bell, and Glee actress, Idina Menzel.

Menzel – who also starred in Disney’s Enchanted – will also be lending her voice to the soundtrack song, Let It Go.

Frozen will also feature tunes from composer and lyricist Robert Lopez, who is known for co-writing the hit comedy theatre musical, Avenue Q as well as The Book of Mormon.

The fairytale fantasy has been directed and penned by Wreck it Ralf co-writer, Jennifer Lee.

Kristen Bell will be playing kind-hearted Anna who is on a long, dangerous trek across the frozen plains to confront evil snow queen, Elsa (Menzel) who is causing the land to suffer through a perpetual winter.

Luckily, as two adventurers are better than one, Anna isn’t alone; she has the companionship of courageous Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) who helps guide her through the frozen landscape.

The magical winter epic is based on the much-adapted Hans Christian Anderson fairytale, ‘The Snow Queen’.

Frozen‘s animator, Glen Keane had the idea for the film ten years ago but abandoned the concept to work on other films including Disney’s animated Rapunzel comedy, Tangled.

Frozen is set to be released in the UK on 6 December, 2013, but those in the USA will be able to see it from 27 November.
